WHAT TO WEAR: Engagement Session Style Tips
We love helping bring each detail of my photoshoots together with our clients. The wardrobe you choose to wear can really change the overall look of your final images. This is the perfect opportunity to get fancy! For girls, we highly recommend dresses and skirts that you feel comfortable in! Flowy, form-fitting, short, long, you name it…. Dresses can flatter every body shape. For guys, we recommend Neutral slacks (Khaki, Grey, Navy) and shirts (white, black, blue, grey). Neutral outfits will match most any dress!
A few things to consider:
- Outfits that are seasonally appropriate (We want you to be comfortable in any weather!)
- Classic styles versus trendy
- Choose colors carefully. Try to stay away from busy patterns. Any solid colors will work. The idea behind this is we want most of the attention on you, not the clothing.
- Coordinate. You don’t have to be perfectly matching with your partner, but having a nice color-coordination would certainly help. When deciding how you and your partner will dress, look for complementary colors and solid prints.
- Try to stay away from anything too busy, as it can be an unnecessary distraction in photos.
- Accessorize!! Having an extra pair of shoes, or a couple of different necklaces is always a plus. Again, it is great to have variations and multiple options.
- Usually we don’t use a lot of props for the engagement session, because the idea is to show your relationship and emotions, be more candid and have fun. However, all couples are different, and if you wish to include some props here are some ideas: balloons, flowers, and any custom made things you have for your wedding day from Etsy (or another website).

Outfit Change
If you’ve upgraded your engagement session package to include up to 2 outfits then you’ll want to plan a second outfit. After the dressy photos, go ahead and bring a more casual outfit to change into that fits your personality!
